The glassy winged sharpshooter (gwss) is being blamed for vineyard diseases. A very large amount of State and Federal funds have been allocated to address this problem. Pesticide use is the only method that is being given real consideration, even though officials know that it will not work. Residential districts are to be sprayed with pesticides when the bug is found there. This is because the sharpshooter is being spread via landscaping plants, and the stated goal is to stop it in the urban areas before it gets to the vineyards.

We advocate NO use of pesticides.
